1. WILL MAGNETIC THERAPY WORK FOR ME?
According
to recent scientific studies 75 to 95% (depending on the condition)
benefit from magnetic therapy. It is estimated that over 120 million
people worldwide use magnetic therapy. I cant say anything officially
yet, but lets face it: this treatment (magnetic therapy) is a Godsend.
Its good for almost anything. Dr. Kenneth S. McLean MD Bioenergy

2. HOW LONG SHOULD I USE A MAGNETIC PRODUCT?
Listen
to your body and decide according to your personal results. Some people
use magnetic therapy for pain relief or until the symptoms disappear
and re-apply when pain or symptoms return. Other people use magnetic
products most of the time for general health and well-being. Generally,
magnetic therapy is used short term to recover from injury and enhance
the healing process. For chronic conditions and to promote wellness,
vitality and balance, it is recommended that the magnetic product(s) be
used most of the time.
3. IS MAGNETIC THERAPY SAFE?
The
World Health Organization study on magnetic fields, published in 1987,
declared magnets safe. All the scientific studies to date confirm that
magnetic therapy is a safe form of natural therapy. It is important
however that persons fitted with pacemakers, defibrillators, implanted
insulin pumps or other electro-medical devices keep magnetic products
at least 18 (45cm) from the device.
4. DOES MAGNETIC THERAPY HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
As
indicated in the results of all the important scientific studies, no
adverse side effects have been observed with magnetic therapy. A very
small percentage of users may experience mild, temporary symptoms such
as light-headedness, tingling sensation, feeling of warmth and
increased thirst. In rare instances, as part of the healing process, a
particular condition may feel worst before starting to improve. These
sensations are temporary and can be eliminated by removing the product
and introducing it to the body at a slower rate.
5. HOW QUICKLY DOES MAGNETIC THERAPY WORK?
This can vary from a few minutes to several weeks. Generally people
will notice an improvement within several hours to one week. With some
conditions the results are very dramatic while with others the results
can be very subtle. If you are not sure if your magnetic product works
for you, simply take it off for a while, if your pain or symptoms
re-appear it is a confirmation that magnets are helpful for your
condition.
6. HOW DO I DECIDE WHICH MAGNETIC PRODUCT TO USE?
In
general the rule of thumb is put the oil where it squeaks the
loudestand choose the product(s) you would be most comfortable using.
Nothing works if it is not used! E.g.: Back problems back or waist
wrap, magnetic pads, sleep systems. Foot problems magnetic insoles.
Stiff Neck necklaces, neck wraps. Wrist, elbow or shoulder problems
bracelets. Small but powerful magnets placed on pain trigger points or
acupuncture points can also be used for most painful conditions. For
general health and well-being, energy and balance most people prefer
easy to wear, attractive magnetic jewelry, insoles and sleep systems.
7. HOW LONG WILL MAGNETS RETAIN THEIR POWER?
Magnets contained in good quality magnetic products should retain their
power for your lifetime. Magnets can be demagnetized if exposed to very
high heat of 250 F (140 C) or more.
8. CAN I BUY A FRIDGE MAGNET AND GET THE SAME RESULTS?
No. The magnetic field emitted by fridge magnets will not penetrate deep enough to be effective.
9. CAN I USE MAGNETIC PRODUCTS DURING PREGNANCY?
Although
no harmful affects have ever been reported, you are advised not to use
magnetic products during pregnancy, simply because no research has been
done on how magnetic therapy may affect pregnancy.
10. How strong should the magnets be? Magnet strength is measured in units called "gauss". For comparison the average "refrigerator magnet" may be anywhere from 10 to 100 gauss. Magnets used in therapeutic products vary from about 200 gauss to 2,500 gauss - and some even greater.
Gauss strength can be misleading. Remember that the strength of the magnetic field falls off exponentially as the distance from the surface of the magnet increases. Depending upon the strength, size, and distance from the skin, actual gauss strength inside the human tissue can be much less than the gauss rating of the magnet.
Magnets are another case where bigger is not necessarily better. A stronger magnet may be beneficial inside a mattress several centimeters away from the skin, but applied directly to the skin may not have any more effect that a less powerful magnet. A penetrating field strength of about 450-500 gauss is cited as optimal by several studies.
The depth of penetration of the magnetic field appears to be at least as important as its strength. This can also vary depending upon the strength and size of the magnet. Magnets made from Neodymium, a rare-earth metal, are unusually strong in relation to their size, and therefore believed to have the deepest penetrating fields. Some people may have a reaction to direct exposure to some rare-earth magnets. For this reason, many therapeutic magnets are plated with gold or other non-reactive metal.
What does alternating or north mean? Each magnet has two "poles" - or "ends". One pole will naturally seek the earth magnetic north pole, the other pole is its opposite. They are two sides of the same force. The north-seeking pole is often referred to as "Bio-North" or simply North, and its opposite as South. These terms are descriptions of the magnet polarity. Terms such as positive or negative are not accurate descriptions of magnetic polarity.
Thanks to new technology in magnet manufacture, it is now possible to create magnets with both north and south poles on the same surface of the magnet. This arrangement may be called alternating or bipolar. Many practitioners and manufacturers claim that alternating (North-South-North-South) polarity arrangements are more beneficial than other forms, but there are no definitive studies that support this idea. It is often stated that the north-seeking pole of the magnet is preferable for therapeutic use. Again, there are no clinical studies to document that the effect of either pole is superior or even different.
How quickly should I expect results? The human body is incredibly complex - and each one slightly different from the next in terms of metabolism, likes and dislikes, reactions to food or medications, and so on. It only stands to reason that each human body will react differently to magnetic therapy. Some people experience immediate results, for some it may take days or weeks of consistent use to achieve results. Clinical studies report between 75-85% of patients experience relief using magnetic therapy.
Do not be discouraged if the first attempt proves unsuccessful. Experiment with different placement or magnet strength, be sure your magnetic products contain "live" magnets, and ask for testimonials or studies to back up claims.BACK
